Copperhead Road Cover
When Roger Canaff reached out for help with the cover for his book, he had a pretty clear vision of what he wanted.
We dived into the details of the book set in the Northern Virginia suburbs of the mid-1980s. The shoe is pivotal—and quite specific: A Reebok with red laces.
We were lucky that a few years prior, Reebok had reissued their most popular shoe from 1984.
After scouting a few locations, we settled on a final, did the post-production, and then worked out the typography. We landed on Futura because it’s timeless, and while it’s never fallen out of circulation, Futura saw a bit of a resurgence in the 1980s.
